Herwin specializes in intellectual property, (online) marketing and data protection.
Herwin advises and litigates on the protection, exploitation and assertion on intellectual property rights, such as copyrights, trademark rights, design rights, trade name rights, and domain name rights. Additionally, he has a strong focus on (online) marketing, data protection, promotional games of chance and e-commerce. He represents a range of clients in various sectors, including FMCG, media and entertainment, fashion, automotive and charity.
Herwin is amongst other things co-author of the book 'Data protection & Privacy' from Sweet & Maxwell, ‘50 questions on privacy’, the chapter ‘The trustee and intellectual property’ in the Insolvency Practicebook and the chapter ‘Handhaving en toezicht’ in ‘Elektronisch contracteren’, in the series Monografieën Recht en Informatietechnologie.
Herwin is a member of the International Trademarks Association, MARQUES, the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law, and the Dutch Association for Media and Communications Law. He is also affiliated with the Dutch Internet Law Review.
Herwin read law at the University of Groningen. He is attorney at law since 2006 and he joined Vondst as per December 2014. Before then, Herwin worked in the IP department of a large Amsterdam based law firm.
