Otto Swens founded Vondst Advocaten with Tjeerd Overdijk. Otto's practice deals with all aspects of intellectual property, but it has a strong focus on patents. Otto advises and litigates in national and international patent cases, particularly in the field of pharmaceuticals & life sciences, chemistry, medical devices and mechanical engineering. Currently, Otto is, amongst others, involved in patent litigation relating pharmaceutical patents, room atmosphere conditioning units, CTP lithographic printing plates, bicycle baskets, meat processing machines and insect repellent permethrin compositions for army overalls.
Further, Otto is active in the practice of pharmaceuticals & life sciences. He advises on Supplementary Protection Certificates, regulatory issues, pricing, parallel imports, reimbursements, product liability and promotion.

Otto regularly lectures and publishes on patent law and pharmaceuticals & life sciences, at conferences and in national en international journals, such as IER, Patent World, European Intellectual Property Review and Pharmaceutical Law Insight. Otto is co-author of Oxford University Press handbook 'Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Chemical Inventions: World Protection and Exploitation', which was published in April 2011.
Also, Otto is member of the board of the Dutch Farma Marketing Group and member of the Advisory Committee of the Netherlands Heart Rhythm Association. Otto is a member of various professional associations, including the Dutch Association of Pharmacy and Law, the International Trademarks Association, AIPPI and PTMG.
